Course Content
Biblical Perspective
Here’s a revelation: Jesus did not invent mission. We take a look at God’s plan for humanity from the beginning – and it’s a real “eye opener”! The Scriptures reveal consistent themes that tie the whole of history together.
Historic Perspective
Beyond the Bible, God’s plan continued to unfold. The course takes a sweep of Christian history to show how the Church was always called to keep extending God’s Kingdom out in the world.
Cultural Perspective
Critical to God’s plan for the world was placing humans in unique societies with wonderfully diverse cultures. In the cultural part of the course we’ll help you understand culture and how to communicate cross-culturally with the gospel.
Strategic Perspective
And God’s plan continues today. It is unfolding even as we go about our daily lives. Global events are not haphazard, they reveal God’s purpose to draw all of humanity to Himself. This part of the course helps you engage.
A Reader
The Perspectives Course is built around a text book full of challenging articles. We call this the Perspectives “Reader”. It is edited by Steven Hawthorne in Pasadena USA and published by William Carey Library. It is available from us at Perspectives South Pacific and is included in the course fees.
A Study Guide
The South Pacific version of the course still uses many of the readings in the textbook but we have developed a unique Study Guide to help our students get the most out of the course material. The Study Guide provides some additional reading material and strategic questions to help you maximise your learning from the course.
